Grandpa Schaub

My Grandpa Schaub passed away last night and as I read my cousin Natalie's blog she described it so well I'm just gonna borrow it exactly how it is from her post. Hope you don't mind Nat., thanks for being there and sharing your feelings that really touched me. I totally cried as I read Natalie's blog, I will miss Him greatly and am sad we didn't get to see him more often. I am so greatful me and Tyler made a special trip out last Sunday to visit him and got to see him one last time. He will always be such a great legacy and example for my family.

What I saw tonight, I shall never forget.I saw two missed calls on my phone. One at 10:05pm, and one at 10:07pm. But I already knew what they meant. Before I returned the calls, I told Anthony, "Grandpa Schaub died."

I saw familiar family member's cars parked outside the hospice building.

I saw how nice the lady was at the front desk. She came right to me, "Are you here for Art Schaub?" Her name was Rosemary.
I saw my dad. Oh, my sweet dad.

I saw my Aunt Char, cousin Jeana, and my mom.I saw Grandma. She was sitting closest to Grandpa. She was quiet. She let me hug her a little bit longer than normal.

I saw my Grandpa. MY Grandpa. The one that would make buzzing noises before he tickled me. The one that didn't like yogurt. The one that knew the answer to every Jeopardy question. The one that knew my own kids by name. The one that sat across the dinner table from me and my family every other Sunday for the past three years. The one that led this Schaub family.

I saw my mom explain how Grandpa passed, right in front of my mom and dad.I saw my dad. He kept trying to close Grandpa's jaw. He stroked his face while holding his mouth closed. He pulled the sheets down to gently lay Grandpa's hands one on top of the other. Grandpa's hands and arms were bruised and frail looking. My dad said quietly, "These hands have worked hard."

I saw my Grandma approach her husband. This lady of very few words leaned over and kissed her husband on the forehead. She touched his face with both hands, then touched his ears. As she stepped back she adjusted the sheets on him and said, "Good thing we have the gospel. So many people don't know what to do when their loved ones die."

I saw Uncle Dennis and Aunt Debbie come in the room.I saw typical Schaub attributes begin. Order and organization is always present.I saw my brother and cousin, Denise, walk in the room. I could almost see Grandpa's arms around them. My heart broke.
I saw my Grandma get confused as she wrote out the funeral program. She repeated herself several times. She wanted to get it right.

I saw Grandma watching her son intently as he gave a family prayer. Her hearing is almost gone, so she had to watch his lips move to understand what he was saying.

I saw the clock reach 11:50pm, and Grandma said, "I call this meeting adjourn."

I saw everyone walk to their cars, leaving Grandma alone. I then saw my dad stay back behind with her until her car was brought up.
I saw my home. My home that holds my dearests of all. I saw my husband asleep on the couch waiting for my return.I have seen my Heavenly Father's love tonight. Thank you Grandpa. Thank you for your legacy.

Kall me Kamp Kimber

I just got back from 3 days of hard core camping. I got called as our ward camp director- yikes, I've only been to camp as a crazy irresponsible y.w., and now I'm a leader in charge of our ward and making sure everything is set and ready. So I took it upon myself to do what I always do when I have a big project that requires creativity and called my best friend Tami to be my assistant. She was perfect for the job (like always) and helped me out sooooo much, I just wish she got to go with me. Thanks heaps and heaps Tami!!!

So first thing first, think of a logo for Sarival Ward. Tami came up with and designed this "SUPER" cute logo.

I'm so glad I got to do all this with my good friend Alisa who's the Y.W.'s Pres. We had tons of fun.

So when I say hard core camping I mean it. No cabins, no beds, no lodges, no showers, no heat! (and it was FREEZING!!) I wish I got a better picture of the HUGE tent about 20 of us slept in, but here we are on our blowup matresses. (thanks Laura)

Our 2 cute yearlings, they had to wear these crowns nonstop.

Our 3 cabin moms, Mari, me (in case you didn't recognize me in my disguise:) and Alisa

Tami with the help of my mom made these awesome capes for all our girls. So we had a little ceremony to bestow upon them their capes and special super hero names. They loved them! Thanks again Tami and Mom!!

Sarival Super Heros!

And ofcourse the Super Hero Leaders

We went on a 5 mile hike to a lake and all the girls were given raw eggs to protect the whole hike. One of the challenges- walking with our egg on a spoon. (piece of cake)

Me and Laura. Me and Alisa had to go home late Wednesday night, so Laura came up to replace us the last 2 days. We missed having her with us the first half.

Me and the girls.

We got home at 1 am Thurs. morning and I went straight to the shower. But I think the week was a success and I had lots of fun camping and getting to know the young women of our ward better.

Fun in the Sun

Summer's here, what does that mean? Everyday in the pool with otterpops.

With Tami's kids, their best buds.

Madix and Hannah love eachother, they're so cute.

Tyler's little preschool took a field trip to Peter Piper Pizza

The girls of the group

They took a tour of the back and got to put pepporoni's on their pizza's

trying our some new goggles

just for fun, we brought out the baby pool

Tyler's little buddy Morgan got to come and stay with us for 3 days last weekend, and they had so much fun together. They colored their faces with chalk. (yes they are the same age, even though Ty's about a foot taller)

ready for church

SUN SPLASH!! We went to the waterpark with cousin Braxton

Hands Up!! This was the best little kids slide. Even Madix loved it cause she could land and stand up in the water.

Ty's still trying to get used to the water

Madix loved the nacho's there

End of the day, getting a little tired.

Swim Lessons: this is the newest thing for me, which I am really excited about. I've started teaching swim lessons! I'm using the exact same method that Tyler and Madix learned, some people call it the drowning method, cause they just get dropped in, cold turkey. I call it the survival method cause they WILL know how to save themselves if they ever fall in a pool (which I think should be mandatory for any kid who lives in AZ). I'm starting at age 18 months - 5 years. I did 3 3 year olds and a 2 yr old and after a couple days they were all swimming to the side all by themselves and the 3 yr olds were being dropped in. They have to turn around and get themselves to the side. I'm doing a 5 yr old and a 2 yr old right now and after 3 days they're both totally swimming. I'm not certified yet but I will be for next summer so if your kid needs swim lessons, this is the quickest way for them to learn and be able to save themselves. I love watching kids pick it up so quickly and to know how much safer they will be around water.
